Does Insomnia Cookies Franchise? Not as of 2026

As of October 14, 2026, Insomnia Cookies does not offer franchises: its own site has no franchise page, Minnesota’s franchise registry and California’s DFPI regulated-entities list show no Insomnia filing or franchise entity, and Krispy Kreme’s last count (December 31, 2023) listed all 267 Insomnia bakeries as company-owned. Krispy Kreme, which acquired the brand in 2018, sold a majority stake in 2024 and its remaining stake in 2025.

Does Insomnia Cookies franchise?

As of October 14, 2026, Insomnia Cookies does not offer franchises. Krispy Kreme’s annual report for 2023 lists “Insomnia Cookies Company-owned Bakeries” at 265 in the U.S. and 2 in Market Development, 267 in all, and lists franchise shops only for the Krispy Kreme brand. That count describes ownership as of December 31, 2023, not the current bakery count.

The company’s site checked October 14, 2026 has no franchise page. On the same date, Minnesota’s franchise registry returned no Insomnia filing, and California’s DFPI regulated-entities search for the exact phrase “Insomnia Cookies” returned no results. A registry search in two states is not proof that no filing exists elsewhere.

The 2024 and 2025 Krispy Kreme sales, and what the releases say

Krispy Kreme’s July 22, 2024 release says it sold a majority ownership stake in Insomnia Cookies to Verlinvest and Mistral Equity Partners, that the deal closed on July 17, 2024, that Krispy Kreme received $127.4 million and expected a further $45 million after a refinancing of intercompany debt, and that it would remain an approximately 34 percent minority shareholder. It put the total enterprise value at $350 million, “doubled since Krispy Kreme’s 2018 acquisition.” Nation’s Restaurant News reported that the new owners hoped to grow the brand to 1,800 stores in a decade.

On June 10, 2025, Krispy Kreme announced the sale of its remaining stake to Insomnia Cookies and certain existing shareholders involved in the 2024 sale, for $75 million in aggregate cash proceeds. So the 2024 majority sale was followed by a 2025 sale of the remainder to the company and prior investors. The July 2024 release does not mention franchising, and the June 2025 release mentions franchise growth only for Krispy Kreme’s own international business.

What Insomnia Cookies’ own site shows

On October 14, 2026, insomniacookies.com’s rendered home page had no franchise text and no link with a franchise, partner or licensing address. The site’s sitemap listed 1,698 URLs when checked September 29, 2026, and none had “franchis” in the address.

That is a first-party signal, not a legal statement. A site can add a franchise page at any time, so if Insomnia Cookies ever opens a franchising program, its own site is where to check first.

Cost figures and the FDD

A franchise cost range needs a current Franchise Disclosure Document. On October 14, 2026, Insomnia Cookies’ own site had no franchise page, Minnesota’s franchise registry returned no Insomnia filing, and California’s DFPI regulated-entities list returned no Insomnia Cookies entity. Cookie and dessert franchise alternatives

Crumbl’s franchising page describes a franchise process and states that any offer of a Crumbl franchise is made only by its Franchise Disclosure Document. Wisconsin’s database listed Crumbl Franchising, LLC as registered, with an April 9, 2026 effective date, when checked September 29, 2026.

Great American Cookies’ parent FAT Brands filed Chapter 11 on January 26, 2026, and its assets were sold to FBG Bid Co. in a transaction completed June 16, 2026; the business is now OHG, according to Fast Casual’s September 30, 2026 report.
